
Production company founded in 2017 by producer and director Leire Apellaniz and director and cinematographer Ion de Sosa. Apellaniz and de Sosa combine their experience in independent cinema to produce some of the most attractive contemporary talents. After the short Golden Legend, by Chema García Ibarra and Ion de Sosa, which premiered at the Berlinale in 2019 and had a huge run through festivals, they have released García Ibarra’s first feature, Holy Spirit, with a world premiere in the international competition Locarno 2021, premiere in state theaters in November 2021 and winner of a Feroz award.
In 2022 they premiere the short film Faith, by Maider Fernández Iriarte, at the Málaga Festival and at BAFICI, and it is selected for the Basque Country Kimuak short film catalogue. They also premiere the feature film Inmotep, by Julián Génisson, at the Seville Festival.In 2023 they will premiere the short film Contadores, by Irati Gorostidi Agirretxe, at the Cannes Critics’ Week, which is also part of the Kimuak catalogue. That same year they premiered the medium-length film Mamántula, directed by Ion de Sosa, at the San Sebastián Festival, Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section, a section in which the short film Contadores was also selected.


Currently, they are currently post-producing in parallel the fiction feature film Balearic, directed by Ion de Sosa, and the feature film Anekumen by Irati Gorostidi.
In addition to its activity as a film producer, Apellaniz y de Sosa also organizes the project development laboratory Dirdira Lab, artistically directed by Garbiñe Ortega.
Apellaniz & de Sosa has a sister production company: Señor & Señora, created in 2013 by Leire Apellaniz and Aritz Moreno, with which Apellaniz has produced films by Lois Patiño, Ana Schulz and Cristóbal Fernández, Maider Fernández Iriarte, Marc Sempere-Moya, in addition to Aritz Moreno’s and her own films.
